Notice where the day begins

Start by observing when and where natural light reaches a space. Morning and afternoon conditions can create very different experiences. An area that feels bright at one hour may feel enclosed at another, so a single photograph tells only part of the story.

Place activities with intention

A quiet reading corner, a work surface and a gathering space ask different things of light. Layout decisions can respond to these needs while keeping circulation clear. The best position is not always the one closest to the largest window.

Shape the transition

Deep reveals, covered outdoor edges and lighter interior surfaces can change how light is experienced. The Courtyard House concept uses a sheltered edge to explore a gradual transition between the brightness outside and the calm within.

Balance atmosphere and comfort

More glazing is not automatically better. Glare, privacy and heat need to be considered together with the view. Real design decisions require site-specific assessment; this concept is a visual exploration of those relationships.
